FAQ
-
Can I use other fuelsUnfortunately not. The fire is ONLY meant to be used with 70% or 90% isopropyl alcohol. Some other fuels have been known to, "spit" at times. This of course puts a flaming substance in places it shouldn't be and risks damage to other things.
-
Does it get hotYes, it will feel very hot if handled. The bowl can reach temperatures of up to 250C (480F). You must let the firebowl cool down before touching it.
-
How long can I continuously burn itEach sized bowl has a different burn time. We recommend that after two refills you let the firebowl cool for roughly 20 minutes. The cement can withstand extremely high temperatures up to 1600C (2900F), so no problem there. We do not recommend a continuous burn time of more than 2 hours without a 20 minute cool down period.
-
What happens if it spillsBeing a liquid, isopropyl alcohol will spread quickly while lit over a surface if spilled. Isopropyl alcohol burns off quite quickly. First, we recommend you don't panic. Second, use a fire extinguisher or wet towel to put it out and starve the fire of oxygen. We do of course require flammable objects be kept away from the fire bowl.
-
Why are there bubbles in the firebowlThe bubbles are perfectly normal and safe. Each firebowl is handmade and custom poured when you order, we try our best to get as many bubbles out, but its impossible to remove them all. They are just surface holes where the air has been trapped in the mold.
-
Do I need to clean the firebowlThere shouldn't be any need to clean the firebowl. If marshmallows touch the hot concrete then they will leave a residue and a stain which will not come off. Soot stains will build up at the top where the flame touches. If you feel the need to clean this, please only wipe when cool and only using a soft cloth and water. No detergents, chemicals or abraisive materials should be used to clean the firebowl, as this will damage the integrity of the concrete.
-
Can I place it on my tableYes you can. The custom base we provide is designed to diffuse any heat generated from the bottom of the bowl. It also prevents any surface from being scratched as there is a cork layer on the bottom. Please be gentle when placing the firebowl onto the base, as it is very heavy.
-
Is there anywhere I shouldn't put itKeep it off any wobbly, unstable or slanted surfaces while lit. Also keep things like cloth table-runners, fabrics or other flammable materials a safe distance away just in case
-
Can it tip over and spillWe have designed the firebowl to be extremely stable. However, if knocked heavily, the fuel can obviously spill. For this reason we insist that it only be placed on a very stable and level surface. Also anyone near the fire should understand the risk.
-
Can I add more alcohol while it's still burningNO. Absolutely Not. Nothing flammable should ever be added to a live flame. If you want to add more fuel, please use the lid to extinguish the flame before adding more.
-
Do you provide a warrantyYes. We provide a 6 month warranty that protects against all manufacturing and material faults. Please contact us if you have any problems with your firebowl.
-
Where can I buy the fuelIsopropyl alcohol is readily available in most supermarkets and online on amazon.ae and is relatively cheap. Please make sure you buy 70% or 90% isopropyl alcohol and ensure it is the liquid and not the gel.
-
Can I add anything to the fuelSure. You can ad 50% Citronella oil and 50% isopropyl alcohol. This will help keep the bugs away. You can also add a few drops of essential oil around the top of the firebowl before lighting to give the perfect scent.
-
Is it safe for childrenOnly responsible adults should set up, fill, and light the firebowl. Please use your judgement and supervision. The fire provides a delightful ambience and under supervision, kids will have a thrill not only enjoying that but even roasting marshmallows over it.
-
How do I stop the fireDo not attempt to blow it out, just slide the custom lid over the top of the firebowl and cover the opening completely. This wil starve the fire off oxygen and it will go out within seconds. Alternatively you can wait for the fuel to run out and the flame will extinguish. But never leave the firebowl unattended.
-
Is it safe to cook overYes. The only bi-product of isopropyl alcohol when burned is water vapor and carbon dioxide! So it is totally safe and tastes so great for Marshmallows! Just like over a campfire! Please be careful with touching the marshmallows on the sides of the bowl, if they touch the hot concrete they can stick and leave a mess. If this does happen, don’t worry, most of the mess can be cleaned off. Please wait untiL the firebowl is cool and then use a scourer, water and press gently while rubbing.
